Long Week

The kids didn't have school on Friday, so they stayed home while Roby slept. When I got home, I asked them what they did. To my delight and surprise, they did play quite a bit! One of the things they spent most of their time doing, was playing army men! Most of Ethan's room was set up with this little green/tan/etc guys, but I thought the ones on the window looked especially cool.

Ready for pretend battle.

I showed Ethan these pictures this morning. He liked them in black and white more because "they seem like the old'n days war movies." I did have to laugh at that!

Natalie spent the night at a friends, so Ethan asked if he could sleep in the family room with the dogs. He was very literal about it! He loves them! :-)

(I did make the dogs get off the couch before I went to bed!!!)

Last week was extremely busy for me! I had my first three big tests. Quizzes all the time are stressful, but nothing like tests! The first one was on Tuesday and it was on a computer. This is a new experience for me, but our instructors want us to get used to taking tests this way as when we take boards, this is how we'll be taking them. Because of some corrections she did after we took the test, I ended up getting a 90% on that test! I'm very pleased with that as we've been told to not expect A's anymore! (We have to get a 92% to get an A!) The second test was on Wednesday in my Oral Histology and Embryology class. I like the class, but the teacher is a dentist, has several other part time jobs/hobbies, and is VERY disorganized when it comes to lecture and the notes he gives us. The information is very in-depth, so this makes understanding the material even harder. I don't know how I did on that test yet, as he said he would post the grades by Friday and hasn't yet. But it wasn't nearly as hard as I expected...but the material wasn't as hard as its going to be! The last test of the week was on Friday. I was more nervous for this tests than the others just because I didn't know what to expect. I like the instructor, but she is quite intimidating. To my surprise, I got a 94%!!!!

Because of all those tests in one week (I think they enjoy torture), I got very little sleep last week...three hours Thursday night! But I think that will be the norm on test/finals weeks!

On Thursday I went to supplemental lab, which is more one-on-one learning for clinic. There were four of us, so two clinicians and two patients. This helped me quite a bit, and I can see myself going in the future! I did volunteer (you can be told to go), because I figured I'd like to go and get help now before I get too far behind. It was quite nerve wracking, and stressful having the main instructor over my shoulder half the time, but she wasn't as harsh as she usually is in clinic. She told me to stop being so hard on myself and to remember that they "threw the instruments in our hands, we can be perfect at it yet!" This is something I will probably have to remind myself often as I get frustrated easily when I can't do something correctly! :-)

I also found out this weekend that one of my best friends from back home just found out that after two years of trying to join the Peace Corps, they finally have an assignment for her! If everything in the next couple weeks goes well, she will be leaving in mid-November to go to a small area in southern Africa for two years! I'm very nervous for her, and sad for her to go (as I'm sure is her family and boyfriend!), but so SO excited that she will get this opportunity!

I'm sure there was more to tell about...but I can't think of it right now, and I've been putting off homework for waaaay too long!

I love the army men in black and white too. So did Q-tip. I think Ethan and Q-tip could play for hours with army men together, if only we were close again. Another time...

So glad to hear you are doing so well, as if anything else was to be expected. YOU ROCK chica!
