Today my third drawing was due. It was of the sinuses of the head and where they drain. Super exciting I know! We were then assigned to draw the muscles of mastication (chewing muscles)...but its not due until Monday...so I probably wont finish it up until this weekend! ;-) Tracing is a good thing when it comes to these drawings, it makes it go a LOT quicker when we already have a LOT of other things to be doing and I don't find these drawings extremely helpful when it comes to learning. That is the purpose, maybe when things get more difficult.
Its official. One of the girls dropped out of the program. I wont say any more than that on here.
Natalie looked at a picture in one of my text books that was pretty abstract. It was a close-up drawing of the skin of the respiratory tract (in the nose). She asked me what it was, so I told her. She asked me why I needed to know that if I was going to be working on teeth. (Very observant little gal!) I told her that I have to know about all kinds of stuff about the head, neck, and the rest of the body as well. Her response was to drop her jaw, stare blankly at me, then say, "What?! That's WEEEIRD! Why would they make you learn THAT???" Gotta love the logic of a seven year old! Even kids know that I don't need to know this stuff! ;-)
This afternoon after class, I went to our dentist office to get a note saying that the kids are due for x-rays (so I can take them next month). While I was there I was talking to the main hygienist because she is super excited that I'm in the program. We talked for a good ten minutes then I asked her if she could look at one of my teeth for me that's been bothering me for a good six months but I hadn't had time to go in. She took an x-ray for free, looked at it with a spiffy camera, filed if chip and said that if it kept giving me problems to come back in! All for free! I'm ok with that! Before I left, she said that if they were busy enough in two years, or if their second hygienist was no longer with them, they would hire me fore sure! haha I know its a long shot, but its a good feeling! :-)
