I think Ethan was just a tad excited to be done with fourth grade!!! (But more excited to go play for a bit after school!)
Natalie seemed a bit sad. She's a girl after all.
Here's how part of that conversation went:
Me: Whats that?
Nat: A stone.
Me: What does it say on it?
Nat: Gratitude (and something I can't make out).
Me: Did you have a good day?
Nat: Mmm hmm
Then she ran away to go take a picture with her teacher.
They played for closer to 30 minutes than five. That's how it almost always seems to work! It was so nice out, I couldn't drag them home!
When we got home, they had some small "last day of school" gifts on the table.
(This consisted of four books each, some grade level activity books to keep them working, a slinky 'cause they love them, ant farms, bubbles, a Slip'n Slide, Nat got a rose, and Ethan got more army men...like he needs them!)
Not long after checking out their loot, we all headed outside to see if we could find some ants for their little ant farms.
They had a blast doing this...but soon discovered that the little guys could easily crawl out the air holes. I made them leave the ant farms on the back porch! We either need to find bigger ants, get different ant farms, or forget about it!!! It was a good try anyway!!!
Later that evening we went to Dairy Queen and had our annual "last day of school" ice cream as well. I forgot to take pictures of that (believe it or not), but the kids absolutely loved it!
They get about a week and a half off before summer school. Its "fun" summer school where they do fun activities and whatnot. I start my summer class the same day. Whats not so fun, though, is that they will have to get up earlier for eight weeks this summer, than they did all school year! I have to be at school at 8, so they have to be at the before school program at least 45 minutes before that! Oh well, they'll have to used to it, as that's how its going to be from now on!
I can still hardly believe they are going into second and FIFTH grades! Although Ethan is keen on reminding me every hour or two! ;-)

What a great last day! Im sure the kids will have an awesome summer. Sure they are going to a summer school thing and sure they will have to get up early but for the most part thats all fun and games. Friends, friends and more friends. It will be great for them.
What an awesome last day of school, your such a great mom and pretty dang cool for the "last day of school stash" (I'll have to remember that one =]
isn't it crazy how fast these kids are growing? wasn't it just yesterday that Trevor and Ethan started Sure Start??? What happened to the time??!! Is Ethan going to middle school this year or next? Trevor is going to a middle school already :( I am so NOT ready...
Middle school!?!? I don't think I'm ready to even think about that! (Although Ethan totally is!) He still has another two years before he goes! They go through sixth grade in elementary school here. Its so weird here!!! ;-)
