Yesterday we had a busy day carving pumpkins, sorting out the seeds (I'm planning on baking them today), then rushing to get the kids ready to trick-or-treat! This was the first time in FOREVER that Natalie wanted to be something other than a princess!!! I was in shock, but was NOT going to tell her no! I asked Ethan several times if he wanted to be something different, and he kept saying, "No," and that he just wanted a new staff (or whatever its called) to hold. I was ok with that too! Ethan wanted glow-in-the-dark face make-up, and Natalie wanted white hair to go along with her white face and ghost costume! I was so excited! :-)
After they were ready, Roby took a couple pictures while I was getting my "gotta stay warm" gear on.
(I looked EVERYWHERE for the candy buckets Gma Nan made them last year when she was here and I cannot find them! They have to be in a box somewhere in the basement...I felt so bad that I couldn't find them, but I just didn't have any more time. I'll find them this winter break when I have time to go through everything and they'll be able to use them again next year!!!)
Our yard decorations. Pretty spooky, eh? We also have a couple ghosts in our little tree. (I have a few pics that I'll be posting soon that you can see them in.)
When I was ready to go, I thought I needed to take pictures...little did I know that Roby was on top of it!!! He knows me too well!
One of Ethan's friends lives a street or so away. They have had their yard decorations out for several weeks. After going to several houses, it was time to go to their house. This is what happened:
The guy standing in front of the garage said, "Go ahead in the garage and get your candy, there is nothing in there but dummies." So Ethan went, and got scared. I don't think you can tell on the video, but he jumped pretty good! At that point, Natalie was freaking out! She is NOT one for being scared! Right after I stopped recording, the guy in the garage that scared Ethan started coming toward her to giver her her candy...she SCREAMED and ran out into the street to get away from him! Luckily there were no cars anywhere! (I was laughing a little...)
Walking to more houses.
I was trying to capture Ethan's glow-in-the-dark face paint...but it didn't work very well (Natalie's looks like its glowing more than his!).
I have to say that I really like the feeling of trick-or-treating in our new neighborhood more than military housing. People seem much friendlier, compliment the kids' costumes more, say, "Hi" to the parents more, and give a heck of a lot more candy! We went to about half as many houses this year and got just as much candy! Our house, on the other hand, received hardly any trick-or-treaters. I got way to much candy, and now we are stuck with 80% of it. I think our house is on such an out of the way street (which I LOVE), that not many are willing to walk all the way down here for a few houses. Now I know, and next year I won't buy as much. I guess Roby'll be taking a bunch of that candy to work with him...as I don't think my teachers would appreciate me taking it to class!!! ;-)
Hope everyone else had fun and safe Halloweens!

So fun. I LOVE the video. I wish J would have gotten a video of Animal at the creepy house down our street. He was totally freaking out but I refused to go so I have to give him some credit. The boy is a glutten for punishment.
