The first thing I noticed when we walked into our house was how open and spacious it seemed in comparison to most of the split level houses I've been in. They all walk into a stairwell where you go up to the main floor or down to the extra family room/garage/laundry room. Our house walks into the front room. I liked that instantly.
The second thing I noticed was the U G L Y entry light. It is very outdated which surprised me being only 7 years old. I guess they just put up a cheap light in all the houses they build and figure people can upgrade later if they don't like it! Well, I know it wasn't a priority, but it was something that we really wanted to replace. And we found a really nice looking light for not a lot of $$.

He also changed out the locks and a couple other things that day. That was the day we got the keys to the house...the same day I spent 4 hours cleaning the refrigerator...just in case you forgot. ;-)
Notice all the boxes and papers??? That's from all the projects he had going!

Girl I kid you not, that is the SAME light we installed in the stairwell. Its beautiful, you have GREAT taste. I love the black/broze look to it and that is totally what we are going when we make changes downstairs. I love the antique look so much...It looks SO much better by the way and totally worth the price.
I love your new light. The old one was NASTY.
