Moving is a messy business. Not just cleaning up after someone that lived there before you (which it does consist of!!!), but trying to find places for all your belongings all over again. Things get moved, moved again, and moved a few more times before they find a "home" for the time being. Especially being a military family...we will have more moves to come, so our "things" will get moved again sometime down the road. This move (and one we did in Germany) is unlike most military moves where they pack you up, ship your things, and put the boxes into the next house. All you do is supervise and unpack. Nope, this move, we did it all again. So far, I have found one broken flower pot (oh darn) and we dinged the grandfather clock by not putting the pendulum back on correctly. To share with some of the fun, here are a few pictures of our disarray! I'm sure you have all been there at some point, so enjoy!

Funny story about the dogs. Roby took them to the new house while I was at the store getting a few things we needed. He let them in the backyard just in case they needed to "use the bathroom." Well, lets just say they both learned what glass was real quick! They both ran head first into the sliding glass door! Roby was doing something and heard a loud THUD! Then saw max looking bewildered! I felt so bad for them...but wish I would have been there to see it! They have both done it a couple more times, and occasionally run into the screen door as well! Silly dogs!

Max being good...trying to stay out of the way.

Only a little mess in the family room. I think this was before I started bringing boxes in from the garage.
Maggie is always in the same room as me...notice her still "full" looking belly from getting into the garbage again??? (She had Wendy's leftovers that she found in a garbage bag that I didn't see when I was being nice by leaving her out in the old house instead of keeping her in her crate.)
Natalie and Nikole trying to keep busy. I'm not a huge fan of video games, but there are times where I'm ok with it! They had nothing else to do, and it was pouring outside!
Cords and things everywhere!
(I'm not a huge fan of stuff being everywhere...I'd like it to be tidy, just sometimes, please?!?!)
Trying to figure out why the sprinklers don't work...no luck, they still don't work. Maybe someday he'll have more time to fiddle with it more or call someone out to work on them...but not now.
We had to move the clock over a bit so it wasn't in front of the air intake. We finally brought the black shelf in from the garage so I could start unpacking a few more boxes...things were starting to get done, but it always feels so slow!
Max and Maggie enjoying the back deck...wait, I don't know! They always sit at the back door wanting out, then sit on the other side wanting back in! Crazy dogs!
The house is coming together. I have some "finished" pictures coming up. As finished as things are going to get for a while anyway. I'm still not 100% sure what we're going to do about Natalie's room, or when. I know that we need to replace the carpet as the cleaning doesn't seem to be doing any good. And even if I used a whole gallon of the cat-specific cleaner, I don't think it would get rid of the stains/smell. (I tried the black light trick...and didn't see anything...even directly over what I KNOW is cat urine. I don't know if I was doing it wrong or what...maybe I need to wear cool colored goggles???) I feel stuck right now...I think I'll just end up taking her stuff back to the garage or down to the basement as we are hosting a party in less than two weeks now and I'd like to do it without boxes invading the front room and upstairs hallway! If I could, I'd like to pull her carpet up now so I can seal it then use the space to put her boxes and she could even use it a little with an area rug that we already have...I feel like the kids have already been without their "things" for two months now, how much longer am I going to do this to them??? I dunno, we'll see what happens!

Moving does suck, so much to do before and after. Just know that it does come together and feel like home soon enough. Or maybe not as soon as we would like but it does come together.
