Updates

I didn't get in the program and we're not getting the house...ugh...its been a rough couple of days...

APRIL FOOLS!

Ok, that was way lame I know! Sorry, had to do it!

I GOT IN!!! I got my letter on Saturday! I can still hardly believe!!! To everyone who's thinking, "I knew you would!" Thanks!!! But if I let myself think that way, I would be even that much more disappointed if I didn't get in! I think there were over 200 applicants, 35 interviews and they did end up accepting 20 people into the fall program. We have orientation on May 29th. I was looking at the classes I'll be taking, and it looks like it will be a busy first semester! I'll be in school Monday and Thursday from 8 to 4. Wednesday from 8 to 5 with a three hour break...but that's at two colleges, so they have to allow for driving time and lunch. Then on Tuesday and Friday I'm only in school from 8/9 to 12. Which I'm sure I'll be spending that extra time on homework! The reason for two schools is so that we get "the best of both worlds" as they put it. A smaller campus, yet still high-tech. But we go to a bigger university (that teaches dentistry) for our radiology and clinical stuff. This will take some getting used to. 2 1/2 days at each campus...ugh! At least they are about equal distance from our house! By the way...I GOT IN!!! :-)

Things are still a go for closing on the 24th. Nothing came up in the home inspection, I think I already said that, but I don't remember right now. I drove the kids by the house for the first time on Sunday. They were very excited to say the least!

Yesterday I started to pack. A little here and there will get it done without me stressing and putting it off to the last minute. I did a little more today too. I even went to Home Depot and got some primer to paint over those pretty flowers I painted in Natalie's room. So pretty, but SO not going to pay $35 for someone else to paint over them! While I was there, I also grabbed a bunch of color samples to consider for Natalie's room. We're still debating on Ethan's...I think we need to see it again before we decide for sure. I also grabbed colors for the front room. I don't know how long I can live with PURE WHITE everywhere! ;-) We'll see what happens with all that!

Someone just today finally came to our house to see if they could "do" anything about the smoke smell coming from our duplex neighbor. I'm guessing she didn't want them on her side, otherwise they could have done what they did there. They went to our basement and discovered that after the fire* there were holes made between the sides for wire bundles. Some several inches in diameter. They put some foam caulk stuff in in hopes that it will keep "most" of the smell out of our side at least until we move. I'm not sure if it will do anything, but they were very nice about it (for once) and I appreciate the effort. Either way, we are still MOVING this month!!! (*At some point there was a fire, at least in the basement, although it could have been throughout as we are the only people we know of with linoleum--everyone else has wood flooring. The beams in the basement are all black and charred, reinforced with new beams and all new wiring...but still. We were not informed of this, of course, before moving in...I've probably mentioned this before too.)

I have to say, that I am in love with Craig's List. I've sold items on there before, and have enjoyed the instant sales, with no fees, compared to eBay. But recently, it has been fabulous! I have gotten all the boxes we will need to pack with for FREE! When we are done moving I will turn around and put an add right back up to help someone else out! There are people on there trying to sell boxes, which I think is crazy...but I found two super nice people that gave us tons of good boxes. I also put Ethan's bunk bed on there, which I got two calls for in less than an hour. SOLD! As I was looking at our stuff downstairs, I noticed that we still had an extra twin mattress from when Natalie had a bunk bed (forever ago!), which I put on this morning and got three calls about in less than four hours! SOLD! FABULOUS I tell you!

Ethan does need a twin size bed now. I was trying to find something on Craig's List...but most people are selling bunk beds, larger sizes, or ooooold beds. I headed out to Nebraska Furniture Mart where we got his desk. I looked at the clearance center and found one that would work. It was a similar cherry color, but I didn't love it. I suppose I don't need to love it, its for a ten year old's room! Anyway, I went over to the regular showroom and when the salesperson asked if I needed help I told him that I had bough my son's desk there and was looking for an inexpensive headboard to match. They have a new program that can cross reference what you've bought to what they have in-stock. They had the desk and bedrooms set still, a perfect matching twin headboard was only $20 more than the on I saw at the clearance center! SOLD! I'll be picking it up on Friday, but probably won't put it together until we move. No reason to put it together just to take it apart two weeks later! I'm excited though! Kind of odd that he's getting matching bedroom pieces while Roby and I don't even have a headboard or dresser!!! ;-)

One last thing before I put y'all to sleep...I GOT IN!!!!! :-)

Congratulations on getting in!! Oh, and on the house also. But mostly congrats on getting in, that is so exciting!! I had my interview on Friday and am going crazy waiting for the mail everyday.

What program did you get into? I actually did my undergrad work in Hastings and lived in Lincoln for 3 years.

Congrats, Im still happy you got in. As for all the other stuff...it will all come together as it is now. One piece of the puzzle at a time.
