Roby and I have a really bad case of influenza...aka the flu. I've had the flu before, but never like this. Entire body aching, extremely high fever, uncontrollable cough for days at a time. The cough is so bad that my throat has been rubbed raw and swallowing water hurts. I've tried sprays, cough/throat drops, medicines, Vicks, Vicks on my feet even. I started feeling sick on Sunday and just this morning my fever has for the first time dipped below 101 without medicine. Roby got it Tuesday I think
Because Roby's in the military, he has to get doctor permission to miss work. He tried to get into the base clinic yesterday afternoon, but they were full and told him to go to the ER. Once there, they admitted him, made him put a gown on, wheeled him around on a bed, did x-rays of his chest, swabbed his nose, and all kinds of stuff to figure out what was wrong. He said that the doctor came to the conclusion that he (thus we) have a horrible strain of influenza, and that we probably feel like a truck has just run us over. Luckily when she wrote a prescription for Roby, she wrote one for me too. Because I've been having symptoms for more than two days, it probably won't do much for me.
The last few days for Roby and I have been spent sleeping, taking medicine, sleeping, and trying our best to keep the kids from getting sick too...which I have the feeling is going to happen regardless of how much hand washing or Lysol spraying goes on.
