Ethan's 10th B-Day Party -- Part 5

I asked Ethan what he wanted to feed his friends for breakfast when they came over. Cereal, Eggos, pancakes, homemade waffles??? He chose homemade waffles. As that's my absolute favorite and is hardly ever requested, I jumped at the opportunity!

Ethan was the first one up, I have no idea how. I heard him around 7:45. I got up, took a shower and went to the front room to wait for the rest to stir before starting breakfast. After a few minutes, Ethan came out with a box of Legos in hand. I reminded him that we asked him not to open Legos while his friends were here and asked him to just relax in the front room until some of his friends got up. He was quiet for another few minutes, then said,

"Mom, this was the best birthday ever!!!"

And that, made it all worth it!

I set the table while I was getting the waffles ready, just to get one step ahead of seven hungry kids.

Making tons and tons of waffles! I made three batches worth and only had about 2/3 of one left.

I love how kids look in the morning!!!

Talking the whole time!

They stormed the plates of waffles, I was worried there wouldn't be enough! Then all of a sudden they were all done! They all went and cleaned up their sleeping bags (well, I rolled them all up), got dressed, and hung out until their parents picked them up around 10:30/11. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought, but for sure not something we're going to do every year! ;-)

Phew...The END!

(For a few weeks...)

His best birthday? You are awesome! That makes everything worth it and I am so happy to hear this. Those are the words we can only hope to hear after all the effort.
