New Years Eve Zoo Trip -- Part 1

I'd been thinking of taking the kids to the zoo during winter break, but hadn't figured out a time to go. When I was talking to my friend, she suggested we go on New Years Eve as neither of us had anything better to do! That, and I think we both needed to get our kids out of the house!

It was under 15 degrees that day (it hasn't gotten over 30 in a while), but they have so much to do inside, we figured it would be fine!

Before we went, we had to get some lunch!!!

Our first stop was the "Desert Dome."

Feeling the sand.

Looking at various creepy crawlers.

Cheese!

Aaaahhhhhhh!!!

Ethan was pretending to be scared of the bats! He loved all the bats! He hadn't seen them yet, as he'd only been once before and didn't go in the lower section of the Desert Dome.

Looking at the crocks.

An "albino" crock.

Ethan pointing at a little one.

Posing in front of the frozen waterfall.

Proud that he's as tall as the BIG monkeys.

Sleepy guy!

Another CHEESE!

In the aviary.

Black swans are pretty cool!

Nat found a peacock!

Back inside, one of the chimps was trying to unscrew a screw!

I've been trying to learn various things on the computer, and one thing I just discovered was how to splice together several short video clips. I was having fun with it the other day (although it took me forever to figure out how to save it in the right format to upload!), so have a couple to share!!!

As we were watching the chimps play, Nat was being very thoughtful (wishing Roby was with us).

Nat smiling nice.

All throughout the zoo they have various bubbles for kids to look in. The penguin area is my favorite!

I love Ethan's expression!

Us in the water tunnel.

Pointing at a shark.

Look at all the sharks!

Ethan was content. (LOVE this picture!)

I'm sure these pics aren't terribly entertaining...but we had a great time and its these times that I don't want to forget!

Wether or not others find your blog entertaining does not matter (for the most part) as these are your memories and you should document them as you see fit. Personally I LOVE your blog, you and your kids! Everything you post makes me happy. Seeing the joy on their faces is wonderful. This looks like a great day and a neat zoo. Okay I could totally do without the bats but whatever.
