When Roby got home from his last trip, he was surprised to see what I had done with the dresser! After looking at replacing the knobs, I decided to just refinish the original ones. I didn't think it would look quite right with the discoloration, and I wasn't willing to pay $30-100 for ten new knobs/pulls. I did find a spray on version of the clear varnish (or whatever you call it) so I wouldn't have to sand between coats. I conned Roby into doing it 'cause he has a much steadier hand when it comes to something like that! :-) He put three coats on, and we let it dry for 24 hours.
The drawers were all lined with this beautiful white and gold contact paper. It almost matches our beautiful linoleum!!!
I thought it would be nice to clean it up a little, and make it a little more modern by covering it up with something new. I was going to try to take the old out, but it was really stuck on there. That and the new contact paper isn't very sticky and can easily be removed, even in a year or two. I originally got plain white, but found this at a different store. The browns go with it pretty well, and I love the polka dots!
Finally done and in Natalie's room!
I even put one of the pictures she got for Christmas up! (I'm going to rearrange the rest of the pictures in her room today and hopefully get the other one up above her bed.
I think it turned out pretty good considering it was the first time I'd ever done something like that! Not to mention $40 to refinish the outside and line the drawers is much cheaper than buying a new dresser! When she walked into her room after school, I had all her clothes already put away. She was thrilled to see it there instead of the plastic bins! I wish I would have recorded her squeel!!!

I love what you did to this piece of furniture. I am tremendously impressed! Now I need to find something great for Baby A and do the same. Im so excited!
That's sooo awesome! I wish I had the talent and extra creativity to do something like that to the old dresser we have. :) Awesome job!
