Stormy Weather

At the beginning of summer we had a lot of stormy weather. Tornado warnings were constant, and there were several tornadoes that touched down, and one/two that even took life. When the sirens went off we headed down to the basement for safety until it would pass. These pics are from our first experience with "taking shelter." Max is terrified of going into the basement, but he followed Roby down without hesitation. (I'm pretty sure he'd rather be with us down there than upstairs alone with all the rain/thunder!)

Finishing her dinner on a makeshift table.

He didn't mind at all, gameboys are great!

I think it was a different night, or maybe later that night that I took some pictures of clouds...and attempted to take a pic of lightning. I'm starting to realize its luck along with a good lens and taking hundreds of pictures to actually capture it!!!

Did you see it? I got a tiny bit of lightning!!!

A few nights later I was at school when we had the worst of the tornadoes. (The on that hit the boyscout camp and killed four boys.) My teacher taught meteorology for a while, so was talking to us about the movements of the clouds. I took this pic with my cell phone.
The same night, Roby took the following pictures.

The storm rolling in.

His accidental capture of lightning...

Full fledged lightning to the ground! And he wasn't even trying!!! ;-)

The rest of the summer has been fairly mild weather wise. Its been hot and extremely humid (which I still don't like at all). Storms off and on have helped cool it down...but I'm beyond happy for fall to be on its way!!!

Wow girl those are some interesting clouds and cool lightening shots. Am I really ready to move back to the states? What kind of natural disasters happen in Las Vegas? I need to know this crap so I can have one more thing to stress me out. Lovely.
