Trick-Or-Treating

Trick-Or-Treating was scheduled for 6-8pm yesterday. I'm thinking this is a common time frame, and its perfect! You don't get kids/teens coming by at 4:30 (as soon as they possibly can) or 10:00 (because they think they can!). We started getting ready at about 5:20 because I wanted to let the green face paint set a little before putting Nat's costume on. She was VERY excited to get her face painted for the first time!!! She was constantly asking me if she could go look at herself! I'm glad we started so early because it took forever with her many trips to the mirror in my room!

If you go into shock because there are pictures of ME I will understand completely! :-)

Roby was laughing at this picture...I think he was impressed with my eyebrow drawing skillz! I should wear mine like that!!!

Posing before heading out! (Notice Ethan's pumpkin...) It got dark rather quickly after we left.

This was our first house...

...it was NOT a good experience! See the gorilla?! Natalie does NOT, I repeat, does NOT like people dressed up in full body costumes like this. It doesn't matter if its the Easter Bunny, Spider Man, or a Gorilla...the result is the same. Screaming and crocodile tears! The poor guy felt so bad. He took the head off, got down on his knees and offered her a hand full of candy to make her better. No luck. Two houses later she was ok! It was kind of funny, but I wonder if she will ever get over her phobia of adults in costume...

The Sumo Wrestler from school!

Batman on the way!!! ...to get candy!

Ethan read the sign that said:
"Please take two and leave the rest for others."

Half way through our figure eight of trick-or-treating, we came home to drop off some candy (I didn't have time to grab a back up bag) and get some gloves...it was quite chilly! Roby was smiling, he made this face just for me! He loves me, really he does! :-)
More Trick-Or-Treating!!!

Almost done! Natalie was being "scary" using her purple flashlight to light up her face.
When we got home the second time Roby gave the neighbor girl that went around with us the rest of the candy we had so that he could join us inside. It was definitely time to warm up!

But first they had to check out their stash!!!

I'd say they made out better than I ever did!!!
This years trick-or-treating was a much different experience than the last several years! Its the first time in a long time that we've been able to go around an actual neighborhood. It was quite fun, if nothing else for the decorations people are able to put up! All in all it was a great day!

Where do I begin...the face painting is really really good. I think the eyebrows are totally fab. Oh and I can not forget to mention her green matches your blog background, so fashionable.

The kids made out very well, S and Baby A didnt get anything like that. Even before we rummaged for more candy to hand out.

It will be an interesting change for S to trick or treat in a neighborhood one day. He doesnt have a clue what hes missing.

Almost forgot the gorilla! Nat running away made me laugh but then I felt bad because I remember how scared she was of the easter bunny. I have my own fears of certain costumes and can only hope that she will be able to overcome some of this fear. I have no advice on the matter but wish her luck. Big gorillas ARE scary, I was scared by one when S was 2 I believe. It was HORRIBLE! Everyone saw the damn thing but me.

Poor girl!!! I'm sorry she has such a hard time with costumes like that. Andrew was terrified of Sparky in preschool but he outgrew it. Hopefully, she will too someday.

I'm glad to hear it was fun for you too. I enjoyed being back in America for this Halloween. All the kids spoke english, or at least not german....:) B tried to be a brat and spoke German to the ones who seemed to have a hard time with English...guys, what are you gonna do?

Thanks sooooo much for sharing. I'll show to GiGi on Sunday. The kids costumes were great! They are so lucky to have a mom like you! I'm the bad mom this year and didn't get any pics of Catie. Darn! It was her music lesson night and we were just too rushed! She was out on the Indianola Spit (which is about 5 miles from our house and on the way home from lesson), so I just camped out with friends from the office - glass of wine sitting around the fireplace with the Seattle skyline in view & good conversation with friends sounds better than freezing my a-- off walking around with teenagers! Ha Ha! Guess I'm getting a little smarter in my old age! :)
Hugs to all!
Mom

I saw these this morning, but I was running out of time (I can view the blog from work, sometimes see pictures, but I can't comment). Great costumes! And look at all that loot! The face painting is really good!
