Apparently not. Yesterday when Ethan brought home his spelling list (always my worst subject along with English) he told me it was going to be a hard week of words. And man was he right! I looked at his list and was quite perplexed on how to quiz him throughout the week. I put it off until this morning when he got ready with 40 minutes to spare (Nat isn't going to school again). So, I asked him.
Me: Whats the difference between sister's, sisters', and sisters?
Yes, I needed my eight year old to explain this to me...the hard part was coming up with sentences to use all of these words in so he knew which word to spell. Eventually we were able to make it through most of his list of words until we got to "men's." Then he started busting up with his adorable laugh!

Ethan: Men's' sounds like it goes against the rules, huh?
Me: Uhhh...yup...uhhh...Wanna use it in a sentence for me?
Ethan: Ok! The men's dogs were in the bathroom drinking toilet water!!!
Thats Ethan for you! I love him! He is a smart cookie if you ask me!
This week his school is taking Tera Nova tests all week to see how the school is doing. I think they take them again at the end of the year to see how they progress. He told me that a lot of the kids get done really quick because they don't read the whole story that goes to the questions. I reminded him that it doesn't matter what the other kids are doing, as long as he is doing his best work and taking his time.

I shouldn’t read other peoples comments before writing my own...I lost it...something to do with the apostrophes but whatever. That men's dogs peeing thing was great. I’m thankful for the extra year with S, is that wrong?
I read that again and it really put more emphasis on "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?" or is that 4th? Oh who cares, its almost 11 and I cant sleep. You get the idea.
I liked the "in the bathroom drinking toilet water." LOL
