Middle School?!

We went to Ethan's middle school orientation last night. Although I thought he'd start middle school in sixth grade, and he isn't until seventh, I'm still not ready! I know he's growing, and is more than ready mentally, but I'm his mom! :-) I think the hardest part will be having my kids going to different schools.

Ethan was so cute to watch. I could tell he was nervous just driving up. When he walked in, he would hardly move. I had to coax him along into the commons to register, then to walk around to talk to teachers and find classrooms. After the third or so class we went to there was a male teacher that teased Ethan for looking shocked. He got Ethan to laugh and Ethan started getting more excited than scared. (I really hope he gets that teacher!)

He saw most of the classrooms, the elective rooms, the gym, cafeteria, the track (he wants to do cross-country/track), the front office, etc. He saw a bunch of kids from school as well as several friends from the elementary school they went to before their current school.

Ethan and his friend...wait for it...Ethan (two of the shortest kids in their grade...they are the same height) met up for some free "milkshakes." Can you see their excitement?! ;-)

(I have other pictures of him walking around and opening a locker, but they're on my phone and annoying to get to the computer, so I haven't done that yet. I just wanted to share, because its a big step for him!)

By the time we left, he was beyond excited and much more relaxed about the whole change. As I tucked him in he said he's, "97% excited, 1% nervous, 1% scared, and 1% unsure." I like those numbers!
