Building

Steph has been taking her boys to all kinds of fun, simple activities. Last month they went to Lowe's and built a little Halloween project. As soon as I saw it, and she said it was FREE, I decided I needed to sign the kids up for the next one! On Saturday morning we headed over to Lowe's to make periscopes! The first time they go, they get an apron and goggles that they get to keep. Every time they complete a project, they get a patch to put on the apron (similar to boy/girl scouts). I wasn't sure if Ethan would be too old, or if it wasn't cool enough...but I thought I'd give it a try!

We got there a few minutes early, and several families were already building!

Roby showing Ethan how to be more effective at hammering, although kind of hard with a lightweight hammer.

Nat hard at work. (She didn't like the goggles, and pushed them up soon after I took this pic. Every now and then she would put them back on.)

She didn't want much help at first!

Roby was helping Ethan get the mirrors ready to put in, Ethan was watching some other kids build.

Hammering on his own.

Her attempt at hammering was making me laugh! I tried to show her how several times, but she always went back to quick and short hammering.

The kids said they had a great time, and played with their periscopes the rest of the day. I don't think we'll go to the next one because its something that will likely get thrown out. But three weekends in December they can build three parts to a train! Both kids really want to go, and I won't say no to free and simple family fun!
