Camping, Float Trip - Part 1

Last weekend we were invited to go with a few guys Roby works with, and their wives, to go camping. We drove about six hours to Niangua River Oasis. The purpose of this? To "float" down the river. We left Friday morning around 10. (My car got fabulous gas mileage!!!)

Ethan was sleepy! :-)

Cheese!

Roby loves driving.

This was the kids' first camping trip. They were excited to set up the tent and their sleeping bags.

Roby and me being goof balls. It rained for about an hour the first night we were there, so we had to hang out in our tent for a little while

CHEESE!

After burgers, we made s'mores. YUM

Natalie roasting her marshmallow.

Mmmmmm

Natalie enjoying s'more #2.

Having a good time around the camp fire.

See, I love pictures too!

Saturday morning we were woken up around 6 am by our camping neighbors. We got our stuff over near the start point on the river about 9:30. Time to get the rafts ready. (We were later told that we couldn't do that, we would be charged if we blew them up before putting them on the river again. Oops)

Carrying the rafts down to the river.
The kids were a little excited!

There were a LOT more people than I thought there would be!

Heading out. Notice how nice and white Roby is?! ;-)

Some friends.

They were smiling non stop! (We connected the kids' raft to ours to make sure they were safe.)

I had gotten a waterproof camera for the trip...Roby had to see if it worked. I'm pretty sure the flash went off!

See how white I am?!
We believe in SPF 50-100! Oh yes, I had SPF 100 for my face, it was great!

The first mile or so was filled with people. After that people started to spread out a bit.

She got her hair wet before we let her jump in. She thought it was pretty funny!

Every now and then we would take a little break, get out, eat, whatever.

I love all the smiling pics of the kids, I couldn't choose a few...

Roby re-applying sunscreen. We all put it on 4-5 times during the float.

Roby's friend, Sean, reaching out for some love.

Sean and his wife.

This float trip was a 14 mile journey. You could choose to stop at 7 miles, but we were having a good time and decided to continue. Possibly not the best choice for people who don't spend a lot of time in the sun! ;-) More pictures tomorrow!!!

This does look oh so fun. I am so glad ya'll had a little summer holiday with the kids and a break from the daily grind. Holidays are awesome! Now Im feeling a day on the river (hahaha, a river in the desert...as if) would be so much fun.
