It seems like just a couple weeks ago the kids started second and fifth grades! Well, today is their last day already! They have both been talking about it for the last two weeks, especially Ethan! I think he's excited to be at the top of the school going into sixth grade next year! (They don't start Jr. High/Middle school here until seventh.) I think Natalie's more excited to be able to sleep in all summer... :-)
As the kids were getting ready to take a picture, Natalie put her arm around Ethan. He freaked out on her telling her that he didn't want her to touch him. Well, I'm not cool with that. NO one is allowed to treat one of my kids like that, including a sibling. So, I told him he couldn't be in a picture if he was going to have that attitude. He ran to his room and Natalie said, "Can he still have a picture if I'm not in it, so he'll be able to see what he looked like on his last day of school?" How sweet is that! I said, "Of course!" So she smiled for her pictures!

I won't be home when they get out of school, but Roby is going to take them for their annual last-day-of-school ice cream, rain or not! I already gave them their end of school gifts. Natalie has been having a hard time cleaning her room and cries almost every time we ask her to do it (not to mention the 2+ hours it takes her to get it done). So, following Steph's lead, I thought it would be good to take almost everything out of her room, not because she was in trouble, but to give her less to take out and make a mess of. She still can get all her toys, just not all at once. To help her not think she was in trouble, and because I had been thinking about if for a long time, I got her a simple (cheap!) white desk. She was only upset about taking things our of her room for a few minutes! Ethan had been saving his allowance to get rollerblades, so I got him some that change size with him, and a Nerf Dart set. He was thrilled!
I can still hardly believe they are this big already!!!!!!! Time flies, especially when you are busy too!

I am so proud of these two little munchkins...they are awesome! Have a great last day guys.
Okay so how is Nats room? Do you have pictures? Where are all of her toys? I stand by my statement that having a simple, clean room is both relaxing and rewarding. Having toys is a must have for kids but also a space to just recollect themselves is necessary. Q-tip only has a few toys back and most are being donated. No need for things he doesnt actually play with. I hope she is happy and enjoys the new desk for all her crafty little projects. I have room on my fridge...hint, hint, hint!
HOORAY! i remember the thrill of last day, oh man.
it's good to hear you're arbitrating a bit too, they'll grow out of it! :p
time really does fly.
