Well, the program I was trying to use for video editing didn't load correctly, so I still don't have anything to downsize the videos I want to post. I just don't have the time/energy to figure it out right now...so you may see a Halloween post in another week or two! ;-) And I don't think I took a single picture last week.
At Natalie's girl scout meeting this week, she earned/received her first two patches!!! One for sewing a "sit-upon" (like a chair cushion), the other for doing actions with music and making music with different amounts of water in jars. She was SOOO thrilled to get them!!! I love how they do something so simple and fun and get rewarded for it! She is seriously having a hard time with confidence, so this will be great for her! She also thought she lost her reading book from school this week. She acted like it was the end of the world and that everyone (Roby, her teacher and I) was going to be mad at her and get her in BIG trouble. There was LOTS of crying no matter what we said. After I emailed her teacher, they found it in another girls desk who had her book at home. Drama!!!
In clinic we finished up our "pretend appointments." It was good to finally see what we will be doing starting next semester, but I feel no where prepared for it! I'm not quick enough at all for it, and those will be 4 hour appointments! I can't imagine having to bring it under an hour when I get a job! We still have a lot to learn, but we know the basics for a patient that takes care of their teeth and goes to the dentist regularly.
I have five weeks left of the semester!!! The last week, of course, is finals week! (Which scares the crud out of me! Three of my classes have cumulative finals...) Things are going pretty well still, what we are studying seems to come a bit more naturally than what we were talking about at first. I don't know why, or if it has more to do with getting into the groove of things...but I like the feeling. I'm sure its a temporary thing, one that will come and go over the next 1 1/2 years, but I'll enjoy it for now.
On Thursday morning I wasn't feeling well (I threw up and had a fever--my regular temp is usually under 98.0 F). I went to clinic (school) and told my instructor before I did anything else. Lucky for me, my partner was in the hospital having her baby (she had a healthy girl)...so I wouldn't have been able to do anything that day. She sent me home. Told me to sleep as much as possible and only come to school Friday if I didn't have a fever. I slept for 16 hours, only waking up to get the kids from school and eat something. On Friday, my fever was under 99.5 and I was feeling a bit better. I had radiology, and I had several requirements that I still needed/need. I went...and wore a mask all day just in case. (I'm now glad i did as my fever is closer to 100 again.) I enjoy radiology for the most part. We actually get to talk to new people, learn actively, and quickly see the results. I only have one requirement left in the class (and only one more day seeing patients!). I'm just hoping that I start feeling better soon instead of worse!!!
About four weeks ago, Natalie got sick (with a fever and cough), and so did Ethan about a week later. Natalie still has the cough from it, but just Thursday she started getting a horse voice as well. I thought it would be good to take her in just to make sure she was ok. The doctor we saw was actually the same one that really helped with her allergy issues last time we were in, and remembered her. He confirmed my feelings that there is a good chance that what they had was the common flu going around this year (you know H#N#....I don't want to say it 'cause I already have a lot of weird searches to this blog!). In a way I'm glad as if that's as bad as they are going to get it, we are done with it and they each only missed two days from school. I was also able to get them the H#N# shot Friday just in case they didn't get it yet. (They still won't give it to me.) Anyway, he said she's fine, that it just flared up her already really sensitive sinus issues, and to just continue to watch her carefully. I feel bad for her, but it makes me feel better that she doesn't have something serious going on.
I'd rather be sleeping right now (and helping my fever go down), but I have a ton of homework to do this weekend so I can start studying for finals next weekend. I'm off to draw TEETH!

What a busy week you had and throwing in the illness did NOT help. I hope that you are able to get enough rest this weekend that you are feeling recharged for the upcoming week.
Way to Nat on your two new badges, that is awesome. Hope you feel better too little chica!
