Grandpa Bob's Visit -- Part Two -- The Zoo

(I know zoo pics aren't terribly entertaining, so I made them small. If you click on them, they will open bigger.)

We decided to go to the zoo on Friday to try and beat "weekend rush" and heat that Gpa Bob brought with him from Washington! ;-) We've been lots of times, but thought it would be something fun to do with Grandpa. The kids never tire of it!!!

First to see was the butterfly garden!

A giant moth!

Pretty colors.

Snakes and insects.

A water hole in the caves/desert dome.

A beaver playing with a stick.

It was super hot, so we stopped for a frozen-lemonade.

Trying to cool off.

Looking at the big gorilla (? I'm honestly clueless...I really should know by now).

I love this picture! I love seeing Natalie looking at it with interest/sadness/empathy...

Seeing how tall he is

Nat's as tall as the tail!

Walking to the sea lions.

There was a male, two females, and a baby that is only a couple months old. (I have several pictures of the baby from when the kids, a friend and I went a week ago.)

Hanging out in the shade before going on the Skyfari that was recently put up.

Ethan hanging out on the other side of the seating area watching the sea lions.

They walked through a sprinkler to cool off!

Getting on Skyfari.

Off they go!

There was one "car" between us.

The rhinos under us.

Riding along. It was a much longer ride than I thought it would be!

Cheese!
(I was hot...)

The ride stopped for about a minute at one point...Gpa Bob and the kids were over the water!

I think we were all happy about the ride back to the front of the park! Esp Gpa Bob and his knees! ;-) We were one of the last ones on the ride as we got on at 3:56 and they stopped loading at 4:00. The zoo closed at 5:00, so we had just enough time to check out the aquarium.

Roby and Ethan.

The four of them looking at a sea turtle.

Ethan and Natalie were cracking me up! (Roby had been spraying him with water...) They were looking at some penguins and while I was taking pictures of them, he was making all kinds of faces, it was quite entertaining!

There is just one of the faces! :-)

Such a cute smile!

Got him with water again!

I know you and the kids have gone to the zoo often but has Roby? I really wanted to take the kids to the zoo with J's mom while we were on holiday but that didnt work out. Going with Grandparents is much different than going with Mum.
