The day before Ethan's birthday, I took him to a "Home Alone" class. It is required for kids that live in base housing, who are over the age of ten, who want/need to stay home alone. The base offers it three times a year, and the kids each got various information as well as a certificate of completion at the end. There was a really good speaker who talked about all kinds of things that I wouldn't have thought of. Something simple like teaching him how to turn the water to the sink/toilet off. There was a lot more, and I should have done this post a long time ago...but life is busy! I wrote a few things down so I wouldn't forget, but that requires finding the paper I wrote it on! ;-) We don't need him to stay home alone at all right now. But there are times where it would be easier for him to stay home for half an hour while I run and do something. And he really wants/needs the independence of it! Ugh, is he really ten?!?!
Getting his certificate.

Ethans growing up? Have you let him stay alone while you run to the store yet? How exciting!
