Close And Personal

This one isn't quite so up close, but I thought it was kinda cool...almost sad. This summer I took classes at a different campus than I usually do. It is amazing. Trees, open landscapes, and historical buildings. Anyway, one evening I noticed that they were starting to cut down a tree. By the time I got out of class they had packed up for the day and I saw this owl (???) sitting on top. I don't know if he had a home up there at one point or if he was just checking out the new view. I wish I could have gotten a better pictures...but with the lighting and only having my little camera, this was all I could get.

Right before Roby's sisters came, the kids helped me trim some hedges in front of our house. I cut and they put all the clippings in the "yard waste bin." When we were done, I came inside to wash my hands...then saw something large and green on my shoulder. Lets just say that I freaked out a little bit 'cause I didn't realize what it was! After finding it (for some odd reason it had a sudden...assisted...flight from my shoulder), I put it in a jar to take it back outside.

It took quite a bit of coaxing to get it out of the jar. Once out, it quickly started climbing the wall...then cleaned its feet for a while.

I saved this pic for last 'cause it is my favorite!
