Christmas Parties

This morning before school Ethan asked me why I was going to Natalie's Christmas party and not his. I told him that I was going to help in Nat's class, but I would try to come in and see him too. Lucky for me, Roby got out of school early and was able to go to his class instead of me running back and forth! Ethan was extremely happy to have his dad there the whole time!!! Not only that, but I reminded him to take his camera so I could see what he did!!! ;-)

I absolutely LOVE this picture of him!!!
Decorating cookies...let me rephrase that...making a tower of cookies!
MORE sprinkles!!!
Viola!!! Even a little cookie on top!
One big bite for little boys, one giant sugar rush for Ethan!!!
Please tell me this is all he ate of the cookie tower!!! :-)
One last bite...hands not required.
Natalie was happy that I was able to spend the whole time in her class too! Can you tell???
Making a candy cane reindeer.
Gluing google eyes.
This is my favorite pic of her in a long time!!! She looks so happy and has made some friends that adore her!!! (She's just a tad social!!!)
Playing Musical Chairs.
Awwww, she got out. Although they got out, they were then able to start/stop the music for the kids still playing. I was surprised at how happy they were and how they cheered the other kids on!
Mmmmm Snacks!!!

And now for a few videos to share:

Christmas BINGO

Musical Chairs

Singing a song!!! This is her new singing voice...I'm not sure why she's doing it, but its pretty cute, and I can't wait to show it to her when she's 13!!!

Forewarned

The next week or so I may not do many posts...how is this different my sporadic posting lately...well not much. But I wanted to let you know in advance. The kids have their school Christmas parties today (which I will be going into Nat's class and popping my head briefly into Ethan's) and get out right after. If they are content playing for a bit I will try to post pics of that before heading out to work. I have to work all weekend, then will be busy with Christmas activities on Monday and Tuesday...then work the next two days. So, we'll see when I get Christmas pics posted! Hopefully no later than Friday next week!

As for right now, I wanted to share what Natalie left for me on my pillow last night. She is constantly drawing and making little paper things for us and her friends. I think its adorable to see what she comes up with next...and am glad she's so into it, because she's getting a lot of drawing things on Tuesday!

Spectacular!

After school yesterday Ethan asked me what "the butterflies" are. I had to ask him to clarify a bit, and we finally came to the conclusion that he was a nervous for his program, "A Holiday Spectacular!" The concert wasn't until later that evening, so he had time to relax and play before getting nervous again before we left.

Getting ready to sing.

We were having a hard time taking pictures that didn't end up extremely blurry...I either should have taken my longer lens or need to learn how to use the different settings on my camera.

I LOVED watching Ethan actually do the moves to the songs! Last year he wasn't nearly as into it as he was this year!!!

Below are clips of 8 out of the 11 songs they sang last night. I was seriously impress that they did hand gestures to most of the songs and how well they all seemed to know the words!! I guess that's what having music two to three times a week will do in comparison to just once or twice at their last school (although there are many things about their old school that I miss!!!).

**Just as a warning, for those of you who are not close family or friends, the rest of this post may be extremely boring...but I find it absolutely adorable!!!**

"North Pole, North Pole"

"I Saw Three Ships"

"For The Winter"

"A Nice, Nice Christmas"

"A Song Of Peace"

"Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town"

"Feliz Navidad"

"Deck The Halls"

Cold And Countdowns

It has been COLD the last couple weeks...I'm talking 3 degrees before the wind chill in the morning. The kids are loving it, although they can only play outside for a little while before coming in to warm up. I'm just glad there is at least a good amount of snow to make it worth the cold!
This is Ethan's version of a good picture...no smiles required!Nat is still more willing to take a pic! Especially in the snow with her new snow boots!
Because of the ice storm that went through (we didn't get it very bad) there is still a nice thick layer of ice on sidewalks and other areas that don't get salted or shoveled. This pic is from Thursday last week (it doesn't look much different now)...it may look like snow, but that is a huge sheet of ice that all the kids (and parents) were falling on trying to get in and out of school.

See, more ice! Thanks to the people that don't shovel, two thirds of the walk to school is like ice skating.

We have several countdowns for Christmas...although with working evenings I have been horrible at staying on the correct day. It seems that every time I remember to do it we have to do several days worth.

I got this tree in Germany, the kids love the little wood ornaments that you put on for each day.

In addition to the tree and the snowman we have handing on the closet door, Natalie made a chain countdown at school similar to the one we used when Roby was deployed.

See how she had to take several rings off at once??? I'm a slacker I know!!!

Sharing the fun with her big brother!

Here Comes Santa Claus...

With only a handful of days left until Christmas, the kids are beyond excited about everything that goes with it! Ethan has his school performance tomorrow, they are doing lots of Christmas related activities at school (which includes a party on Friday), they are excited to bake cookies and help with our Christmas Eve dinner, etc etc... (of course the presents too!)

On Friday when I was helping in Natalie's class, they were making a wish list using pictures they found in advertisements. Although I didn't get her anything that she cut out and put on this paper (she did cute out a picture of the table that is wrapped and behind the tree!!!), there are some very similar things that will be waiting for her Christmas morning!
I'm sure this was more for parents to see than to actually "send" to Santa, but Nat really really wanted to put it in the mail. I suggested that she write something on it before doing so, so it wasn't just a list of "give me's"...she was even more excited about this and ran to the table. I wrote down what she wanted to say so she could copy it on her paper.

Deep concentration!
"Dear Santa, I been good this year and I'm seeing you tomorrow. From Natalie"

On her way to put it in the mail.

This was the first time she's ever mailed anything by herself! From start to finish this was a letter to be proud of!

Waving to me, I think she wanted to make sure I was still watching her.

Making sure the flag is all the way up so the Mail Man will know there is a letter waiting to be mailed.

Very proud!!!

Of course you have to walk in the snow on the way back! Much more fun that way!

Saturday the kids were lucky enough to visit the real Santa! Not a helper mind you, the real thing! The reason why we know this??? Because we heard him taking care of his reindeer before coming out to see the kids, he took his time and talked to each child before moving on to the next, he was jolly and everything that any kid could ask for when seeing Santa!

She is just a little excited hearing him in the back.
Although he is bigger, and less willing to show his excitement, you could tell he was giddy too!
I love seeing the pure joy on her face!!! Ethan's too, if only for a second!

(This was right before he came out to see the kids, they could hear his reindeer in the back and the bells on his shoes ringing.)

It was finally their turn!

I wanted to take video of them talking to Santa, but after accidentally taking this picture the guy told me to put my camera away. :-(

After talking to them for a while and taking a picture, he reminded them to only set out two cookies (he has to watch his weight) and gave each of them some "Reindeer Chow" to leave out on Christmas Eve. He then told them that it was "treated cereal especially for reindeer, but don't eat it because your nose will turn red and you'll grow antlers...but if you accidentally do, don't worry it will only last for two weeks!"
Natalie couldn't stop talking about him after we left..."Did you know that Mrs. Claus is real??" "She told Santa that he was getting fat! That's not very nice!" "He told me I was on the very good list this year!!!" "We better not eat the reindeer chow 'cause we don't want our noses to get red...whats antlers??"

Snow Fun

I love my camera, and I couldn't resist posting TONS of pictures!!! I took these on Thursday after we got 4/5 inches of snow. Natalie stayed home sick Thursday and Friday last week...but you have to let kids play in snow!!!

Ethan didn't even come inside after school, snow is just to tempting to play in!!!

Roby couldn't resist throwing shovels full of snow at him!

Snowball in hand, he went back for more!

In his feeble attempt to run away, he fell and got COVERED!

Uh oh, Dad gives a mean white wash!!!

Still coming back for more!

A standoff...

For some reason, Roby always seems to have the upper hand.

Ethan didn't mind.
Nat finally got all her stuff on and was ready for fun!

First on the list of things to do?

Make a Snow Angel!

Making a "fort" together...

...this was about how big it got before they gave up to run around.

No mercy for the girls in the family! Throw a snowball at daddy and he'll get you too! :-)

Yup, I think he got her.

She didn't mind either!
These kids are crazy! Do they not know that snow is COLD???

One last throw for good measure.

Sidewalk and drive way shoveled...kids covered...time to come in and warm up!
